Father Friday - You Do What???

Breastfeeding kids is great, but I think this lady has carried it too far.

Why I Still Breastfeed My Eight Year Old Girl

I sent this story to daddytypes. A reader there sent in a link to a Little Britain clip about "extended breastfeeding". Maybe it's more common than I'm aware.

Yah---That kind of grosses me out! Could you imagine seeing that when the 8 year old asked for it in a store. OH COME ON! If you are going to do that...there is a time and a place for it. OH YUCK is all I can say.

I had stored breastmilk in my freezer, and last year when all of my older kids got a cold I pulled it out so that they could all have some. They were seven and six at the time. If I was still lactating, I can see how I might have offered it. I could also see how they would have preferred it from a cup (not because they think it's gross, but they would instead think they were "not babies" - they don't like to do anything their baby sister thinks is cool).

So, one child weaned herself at five ... is that an okay time? If it's still okay for the child, then why is it gross to us?
